Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is pleased to announce a generous donation from the Genesis Inspiration Foundation to expand the SCAD Museum of Art’s educational programming for kindergarten through twelfth grade students. Genesis Inspiration Foundation Executive Director John Guastaferro presented a $100K check to SCAD Vice President for Giving Audra Pittman at the museum on Turner Boulevard.

The SCAD Museum of Art is an award-winning contemporary art museum presenting exhibitions and commissioned works by international emerging and established artists throughout the year.  The museum serves visitors and students alike, enriching both the high caliber of education at SCAD and the cultural life of the Savannah community and beyond. This gift will further SCAD Museum of Art’s educational mission by creating new programming to enhance the already established lineup. This will include funding for additional school field trips, increasing the number of art educators who will lead dynamic exhibition tours, and creation of additional activities for young visitors to participate in.

“We applaud the Genesis Inspiration Foundation for their commitment to connecting young people to the transformative power of the arts.  This generous gift helps the university fulfill its mission to prepare talented students for creative professions through engaged teaching and learning in a positively oriented university environment,“ said Pittman. “We are delighted to expand our outreach to younger students. Our museum encourages curiosity and can expand a child’s imagination which is necessary for them to become lifelong learners.”

Genesis Inspiration Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to improving educational outcomes for children through the arts.  Founded in 2018, the foundation has awarded more than $8 million in support of arts education programming in communities nationwide.

“Empowering children and creating more opportunities to experience the transformative power of the arts is core to the Genesis Inspiration Foundation,” said Guastaferro. “We are thrilled to support the Savannah College of Art and Design and their efforts to expand their arts programming and introduce children to a new world of the possible.”
