Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity (CEHFH) was awarded a $5,000 grant from Bank of America to directly fund the making of their new 4-bedroom style homes on Spivey Avenue in Garden City. The Bank of America team will be presenting a check to the nonprofit organization during their team’s build day at noon on Saturday, October 28.

“We are grateful to Bank of America for awarding us these funds to change the lives of families in our community,” said CEHFH CEO Zerik Samples. “With the region growing at the rate it is, charitable grants like these are critical to continuing our mission of creating stability for families by equipping them with the skills and confidence to purchase their first home and creating a lasting structure to build generational wealth for their families.”

The Spivey Avenue site is made up of four 4-bedroom homes, which will soon be homed by the Wolfolk, Jackson, Campbell, and Houston families. All families are employed within Chatham County and have completed 12-18 months of financial literacy classes and over 350 sweat equity hours, working on their own or their neighbor's homes.

“Bank of America has consistently worked with nonprofit partners, local organizations and leaders across public and private sectors in Savannah to help drive economic mobility for vulnerable populations,” said Patrick O’Neil, president of Bank of America Savannah. “Philanthropic investments like this are part of Bank of America’s broader commitment to delivering responsible growth to improve the financial lives of individuals, families and entire communities.”

Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity works in this community as an affordable homeownership ministry committed to partnering with low-income, working families to realize their dream of owning quality, affordable and energy-efficient homes in safe and revitalizing neighborhoods in the Coastal Empire.
