City of Savannah’s Annual Earth Day Festival Set for April 19th

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, April 10th, 2024

The 24th annual Earth Day Festival, hosted by the City of Savannah Office of Sustainability with the support of Lite Foot Environmental Foundation, is set for Friday, April 19 in Daffin Park, rain or shine.

This year’s theme, ‘Healthy Planet, Healthy People,’ aims to bring awareness about the crucial role healthy food, clean air and water, and global biodiversity play in supporting human health. The annual festival is Savannah’s largest environmental outreach event and one of the most significant educational gatherings related to Earth Day in Georgia.

The Office of Sustainability will be on-hand to educate the public with hands-on workshops, giving residents a chance to incorporate sustainability into their daily lives. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn how they can save money by improving their home’s energy efficiency or leasing solar panels through the Georgia BRIGHT program.

Art enthusiasts will have the chance to experience Joanne Morton's immersive community engagement art project, the Make Earth Day Every Day Manifesting Mobile. This large-scale hanging mobile, crafted from recycled materials, harnesses positive visions for the planet to invite participants to contemplate their role in creating a sustainable future.

Children’s activities, food trucks, and local nonprofit vendors will round out the full evening of family fun.
