Dancing with Savannah Stars “Almost There” Party

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, April 4th, 2024

Brightside Child & Family Advocacy will hold the “Almost There” party for its 16th annual Dancing with Savannah Stars signature fundraising event on Thursday, April 4th at 5:30 pm in Starland Yard located at 2411 Desoto Avenue, Savannah, GA 31401.

Executive Director Kate Blair expresses, "As we approach our biggest annual fundraiser, this event serves as a reminder that we are 'Almost There.' Our 2024 Dancing with Savannah Stars dancers have been tirelessly raising funds and awareness for children in foster care. Each dancer was tasked with raising $15,000 on behalf of Brightside Child and Family Advocacy, and it's incredible to see that some dancers have already surpassed this goal. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication over the past few months."

Brightside Advocacy is comprised of Savannah CASA, Prevent Child Abuse Greater Savannah, and Bright House. All these programs work together to protect children navigating the foster care system. Research has shown that children with a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer fare much better in the child welfare system and adulthood than those who do not.

This year’s participating dancers include Marge Wester of Marge Wester Real Estate, Liz Giddens of Belfor Property Restoration, Nikki Warner of Resilient Georgia, JT Kowlachuck of Tharpe Engineering, Cecilia Arango of Thomas and Hutton, Jordan Russell of Riverview Health and Rehabilitation, Maria Moss of Phoenix Leadership, Bob Crimian of COMPASS Science Communication, Kristi Duke of Savannah Behavioral Pediatrics, and Aria Janel of WTOC.

All of the funds raised from the campaign will be used to support Brightside Advocacy’s programming. With the support of our neighbors, Chatham County can become a community where every child is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home
