Raffensperger Continues Financial Literacy Outreach with “Money Talks” at Georgia Southern University

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s Securities Division is kicking off Financial Literacy Month by hosting the “Money Talks” financial literacy program at Georgia Southern University on April 10th. Building on the success of previous events at Dalton State, Shorter University, and Atlanta Transitional Center, Secretary Raffensperger is pushing Georgians toward small-business success and entrepreneurship by engaging fellow Georgians on financial literacy and self-determination.

Georgia Southern University will host Secretary Raffensperger’s “Money Talks” program for two shows on April 10th, at 10am, and at 1pm, in the Russell Union Theater. This program strongly supports the Secretary Raffensperger’s goal to instill Georgia’s next generation with crucial financial management skills and an entrepreneurial mentality.

“These programs are giving confidence to the next generation of Georgia small business owners,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “We’re the #1 state for business, and we’re empowering the next generation to keep it that way.”

The program will be moderated by Atlanta radio personality Art Terrell. The panelists, Sileta Bell, President of The Bell Consultants; Leanne Francis Crayport, Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting; Ebony Francis, CEO, B.A., MBA, Accountant at AvestiCorp; and Cait Howerton, MBA, CFP®, Certified Financial Planner Professional at Archer Investment Management, led insightful and engaging conversations on practical money skills which includes, budgeting, saving, investing, maximizing income, credit and loans, retirement planning, entrepreneurship and starting a small business.

“I’m thrilled to have such an engaged and motivated panel of experts helping grow financial literacy throughout our state,” said Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities.

The Secretary of State Securities Division is a leader in improving financial literacy through outreach and education. The attendees will receive free resources at the event which will include: Investor & Financial Literacy Guide, Strategies for Investing Wisely & Avoiding Financial Fraud, Starting Your Financial Future: Making Informed Decisions When Starting Your New Job, Marriage and Money-Starting Your Financial Life Together, Investment Fraud-Spot the Red Flags and Take Action, and Working with Financial Professionals.
