The City of Port Wentworth Recreation Department will celebrate the holiday season with their annual Tree Lighting Festival on Friday, Dec. 5 and the Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Tree Lighting will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. behind Port Wentworth City Hall, located at 7224 Highway 21 and the Parade will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning at the U.S. Sugar Refinery, located at 201 Oxnard Drive. The festivities are free to attend and appropriate for all ages.

The Tree Lighting will be an evening of community spirit and free family fun. Attendees can expect to enjoy a children’s train ride, community vendors, bounce houses, holiday treats, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, where children can share their Christmas wishes and hand deliver their letters.

Christmas Parade participants will decorate their entries with a Christmas theme, whether it is a float, classic car, marching band or other fun festive idea. Organizations, local businesses and residents across Port Wentworth and the surrounding areas are invited to join in the Parade at no cost. The parade entry deadline is Dec. 2.
