Georgia DOT Holding Public Open House for Proposed US 80 Safety Improvements on Tybee Island

The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) will host a Public Information Open House to discuss the proposed safety improvements to US 80 (Project ID # 0019699) on Tybee Island in Chatham County.
Based on input from the March 2024 Public Information Open House (PIOH) and additional coordination with the City of Tybee, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking feedback about updated, proposed solutions to reduce crash frequency and severity on US 80/SR 26 from Lazaretto Creek to Tybrisa Street.
The public is encouraged to come view displays and discuss the details of the refined proposed US 80 improvement project with Georgia DOT staff. The public meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 8, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Tybee Island YMCA Gymnasium located at 204 5th Street on Tybee Island. There will be no formal presentation so that interested participants may stop by at any time during the meetings.
Public statements concerning this project will be accepted until Friday, December 19, 2025, by the following methods:
