Historic Savannah Foundation to Kick Off 2026 Artisan Spotlight Series With Hands-On Mosaic, Embroidery and Needle Felting Workshops

Historic Savannah Foundation and the Davenport House Museum are pleased to announce the 2026 Artisan Spotlight Series schedule, which includes immersive, creative workshops at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy, located at 323 E. Broughton St. in Savannah, Ga. The Artisan Spotlight Series, which originally launched in 2024, offers engaging, hands-on workshops, providing a dynamic platform for artists and artisans to share their creative processes with local residents and visitors.

“Through the Artisan Spotlight Series, we hope to share some of our city’s talented artists and artisans and to encourage the preservation of timeless art forms,” said Davenport House Museum Executive Director Danielle Hodes, who organizes the Artisan Spotlight Series. “Our 2026 workshops will explore a wide range of media, inviting participants of all skill levels to explore their creativity in a fun, supportive environment.”

The 2026 Artisan Spotlight Series will kick off with the following interactive workshops for all skill levels: 

MOSAICS WITH LAURA LINGLE

Saturday, January 17 | 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
$70/person | $65/person for HSF members

Discover the art of mosaic making and create vibrant, one-of-a-kind pieces using an assortment of colorful glass and tile. Local artist Laura Lingle, who has been designing and selling eye-catching mosaics for more than 15 years, will lead a hands-on workshop that is perfect for beginners and seasoned creatives alike. Lingle’s expert instruction and approachable teaching style will create the perfect environment to experiment, play and create. Participants will complete their mosaic layout during the workshop and take home all of the necessary materials and instructions needed to grout their artwork at their own pace.

UPCYCLING WITH EMBROIDERY WITH SHAYE GALLIGAN

Saturday, February 21 | 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

$30/person | $25/person for HSF members

Give new life to old textiles and learn how stitching can transform everyday items into personal works of art in this creative upcycling workshop led by local mixed media artist and SCAD alumna Shaye Galligan. Ideal for beginners and experienced embroidery artists, this workshop will offer guided instruction in simple embroidery techniques that can be used to refresh, repair or embellish clothing and accessories. All embroidery materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring a favorite garment, tote bag or textile to work on with Galligan’s assistance. 

SPRING NEEDLE FELTING WORKSHOP WITH LUCY BROTMAN

Saturday, April 4 | 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
$35/person | $30/person for HSF members

Celebrate spring with a needle felting workshop at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy. Local artist Lucy Brotman will host an introductory session and teach participants the basics of needle felting, a beautiful art form that involves sculpting colorful wool fibers into multi-dimensional shapes. Brotman will demonstrate essential felting techniques and guide participants in the creation of a set of soft, sculptural flowers that can be gifted or used in home decor. Each participant will leave with finished felted flowers and the skills needed to continue needle felting at home.

All tools and materials will be provided. No experience is necessary to participate in Historic Savannah Foundation’s Artisan Spotlight Series workshops. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. To register, please visit davenporthousemuseum.org/public-programs.
