Armstrong State University’s latest Coastal Empire Economic Monitor, which analyzes data and identifies trends affecting the regional economy, reports that the Savannah metro economy returned to healthy growth in the opening quarter of 2017, as the negative effects of Hurricane Matthew dissipated. Employment, airport travel, retail sales and consumer confidence were especially strong during this period, as was record-setting port activity.

Bouhan Falligant, LLP celebrated the grand opening of its new three-story, 18,000-square-foot building at One West Park Avenue, on the south side of Forsyth Park. The highly detailed, brick-veneered and energy-efficient building with cast stone elements was constructed in nine months, a bit of a record for a custom private office building.

Georgia Construction Outlook Survey: 86% of Respondents Project Revenue Increase

The Georgia Construction Outlook Survey indicates that 86 percent of the state’s privately held construction companies project a revenue increase over the prior year. The survey, released on Tuesday, was conducted by Kennesaw State University’s Construction Management Department in cooperation with Bennett Thrasher, one of the country’s largest full-service certified public accounting and consulting firms.

Georgia Ports Authority Breaks Container Volume Record

Larger vessels and additional container services calling Georgia's ports coupled with a positive economic forecast ushered in an all-time record month for container volume. The Georgia Ports Authority handled 350,104 twenty-foot equivalent units in May, 11.68 % more TEUs compared to the same month a year ago, or 35,619 additional TEUs.
