LEFT LANE has provided a construction update regarding its historic two-acre property at 700 Drayton Street. The newly rebranded Hotel Bardo Savannah, formerly known as The Mansion on Forsyth Park, will open in February 2024. LEFT LANE acquired the Drayton Street property for $52.5M in June 2022, and is set to begin its third and final phase of the multi-million-dollar phased renovation, expansion, and luxury rebranding this summer.
On July 31, 2023, the current hotel operations will temporarily shut down for several months in order to complete the planned renovations and expansion for Hotel Bardo savannah. “Hotel Bardo is situated in one of Savannah’s most treasured and historic areas, and our new brand will shine a light on the beauty and hospitality that make Savannah unique," said Pritpal Singh, COO of LEFT LANE. Hotel Bardo is a Leading Hotels of the World property.
"We are honoring this special property’s rich past, informed by our extensive research on the area's history, while bringing a new luxury hospitality experience to Savannah,” added Singh. “Our team looks forward to showing the community what our vision as we prepare for the opening of the reconceptualized urban resort in February 2024, just in time for the 200th anniversary of Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade,” he explained.
LEFT LANE is on track to debut the urban resort's primary restaurant concept, Saint Bibiana, in September 2023. Led by Executive Chef and Culinary Director Derek Simcik, Saint Bibiana will offer coastal Italian fine dining inside the original mansion that sits on the property’s grounds. The site's popular cooking school will remain operational in the new urban resort, and a new private event space and members club will debut on the second floor of the restaurant.
“We want Savannah residents to be proud of and part of this transformation,” said Singh. “We will welcome 250 team members when we reopen next year and they will deliver a new gold standard in Savannah hospitality.”
Hotel Bardo Savannah will have 149 guest rooms, with 20 being suites, and new features at the property include a sprawling 25-meter pool and pool bar; a holistic gym and wellness spa; Club Bardo, a membership-based social club; standout food and beverage locales including The Courtyard and The Green Room lobby bar; Shop Bardo–curated retail; and event spaces like the elegant and modern Carriage House and The Ballroom, which encompasses 3,500-square-feet.
Hotel Bardo is the fourth project in Savannah for LEFT LANE’s Managing Partner, Jon Kully, who led the team behind the 2013 completion of the Drayton Tower, 2018 debut of The Perry Lane Hotel, and 100 & 111 Ann Street to be completed in summer 2023. LEFT LANE’s forthcoming transformation of Savannah’s Manger Building will follow Hotel Bardo’s opening, and bring a new lifestyle hotel and clubhouse concept to the market that LEFT LANE will also scale. LEFT LANE'S Hotel Bardo project will be the flagship property for the Bardo brand, leading the way for LEFT LANE’s expansion of the brand to additional high-growth secondary U.S. markets over the next five years.
