Georgia DOT to Host a Small Business Event Specifically Designed for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises at The Savannah Entrepreneurial Center

Monday, December 4th, 2023

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) State Supported Funding Program (SSFP) will be hosting, in partnership with the City of Savannah Economic Development Department, an in-person event for small business owners interested in working with the Agency.

Disadvantaged business enterprises (DBEs), small business enterprises (SBEs) and veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) will have the opportunity to learn about eligibility for bidding on projects funded by H.B. 170, and how to identify and respond to routine maintenance projects via the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS).

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Georgia DOT District 5 EEO Officer, John Marek, Assistant District Maintenance Manager, Mark Shuman and Contracts Manager, Brandon Harris about projects forecasted in the area. Additionally, attendees will gain valuable insights from subject matter experts on topics related to insurance, bonding, and access to capital.

This is a fantastic opportunity for DBEs, small business owners and veteran-owned small businesses to establish themselves as qualified contractors with the State, learn about supportive services available to them and become acquainted with the Georgia DOT Supportive Service staff.
