Goodwill Southeast Georgia CEO Accepts New Position

Goodwill Southeast Georgia announced that Michael Winckler, President and CEO, has accepted a new position as President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Houston (TX). The Goodwill Southeast Georgia Board Chair, Ivy Council, announced Jason Marshall, the current COO of Goodwill Southeast Georgia, as interim CEO effective January 2, 2024.
“Please know this decision was not made lightly as I have been firmly committed to bringing workforce development solutions to the communities of Southeast Georgia for those with challenges and obstacles to sustainable employment,” says Winckler. “I leave knowing that we have an amazing team in place and that Jason is eminently qualified to lead the organization through this transition. Our senior leadership and Board of Directors will continue to move the organization onward and upward to new heights.”
Winckler joined Goodwill Southeast Georgia in 2015. He has since guided its growth into a 45-million-dollar organization with more than 650 employees and serving more than 3,000 individuals in 29 counties. Goodwill Southeast Georgia celebrates a record year in its donated goods and manufacturing programs. It is also set to mark the best year in mission services since 2019.
Winckler will join Goodwill Industries of Houston in February 2024. Goodwill Industries of Houston is 130-million-dollar organizationoperating in eight Texas counties from more than 75 locations.
Ivy Council, Board Chair of Goodwill Industries of the Coastal Empire, expressed her congratulations to Mr. Winckler on behalf of the Board. She, like Winckler, is confident in the future of the organization with Marshall.
“Michael orchestrated the changes which took us from a small, economically challenged operation to our current status of a pacesetter within the entire Goodwill Industries organization nationwide. We will miss his leadership, his guidance, and his friendship,” says Council. “Jason has proven his ability to operate at the CEO level and has worked with Michael in a succession capacity for a long time. We are confident that Jason will be a great steward during this transition.”
Winckler’s final day with the organization is January 17, 2024.
