Savannah Country Day School hosted a ribbon-cutting and open house for Livingston Hall, the school's new 6,000 sq.ft. student support center.
Livingston Hall, which dates back to 1956 as one of the school’s original campus buildings, underwent a complete interior renovation to create a dedicated building for Upper and Middle School student support. The new building includes the Waters Learning Support Center for differentiated learning, including six Learning Support Specialist offices and six student-teacher collaboration spaces. Other building features include the Center for Counseling & Student Wellness, the Cultural Competency & Inclusion office, a learning commons area, and a collaborative learning classroom featuring the latest technology inspired by higher education.
The building was made possible by the lead gift of Don and Cindy Waters. Other significant contributors include GA and Shirley Sywassink, Yancey and Dan Bradley, Tracey and Jeremy London, Jerry and Teresa Wardlaw, and Hurley and Meb Ryan. In total, 36 total donors contributed to the campaign to fund the building renovations.
Savannah Country Day partnered with Barnard Architects to create an innovative learning space while preserving the original architectural style of the center of campus. Local general contracting firm West Construction Company oversaw all aspects of the project.
Matt West, president of West Construction Company, comments, “This project was especially rewarding as the school honored the integrity of the original architecture while outfitting the building with the latest in innovative technology.”
"We are grateful for the tremendous generosity of our school community and thankful for our partnership with West Construction Company for successfully delivering this remarkable facility," states Head of School Kef Wilson. “Livingston Hall is one of a kind in our area and reflects our school’s commitment to individual student success.
