Byrd’s Famous Cookies – a leading American cookie and snack company that is proudly headquartered in Savannah, Ga. and currently celebrating its centennial anniversary – recently opened a new retail store at 120 E. Broughton St. in the heart of downtown Savannah, Ga. The family-owned company’s 25th retail store is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Byrd Cookie Company to this high-profile retail location at the corner of Broughton Street and Drayton Street,” said Judge Commercial founder and CEO Lori Judge, who leased the property. “This iconic Savannah brand serves as an ideal complement to the curated mix of shops, restaurants and businesses that make Broughton Street so special.”
The newest Byrd store, which is the company’s seventh retail location in Chatham County, features a Cookie Bar with complimentary Byrd Cookie Company samples as well as a wide range of bakery bags, gift items and collectible cookie tins.
“We have a strong commitment to Savannah and think Broughton Street is a very exciting place to be,” said Byrd’s Famous Cookies CEO Stephanie Lindley, who is the company’s fourth-generation owner. “I think my great-grandfather would be pleased that we’ve opened our newest retail store on Broughton Street and that we are expanding our presence right here in Savannah.”
Popular Byrd cookie flavors include Key Lime Coolers, Georgia Peach, Maple Wafers, Chocolate Chip, Scotch Oatmeal and Salted Caramel. Gluten-free cookies are also available, in addition to signature savory items like Cocktail Crackers, Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits and Cheddar Pecan Biscuits.
“We were looking for a strategic location that would allow us to expand our presence in downtown Savannah and offer high-profile exposure for local residents as well as visitors,” said Geoff Repella, President of Byrd’s Famous Cookies. “We knew the corner of Broughton and Drayton would be a great location and are extremely pleased with the positive response we’ve received from our customers so far.”
One of the largest and fastest-growing privately held cookie and snack companies in the United States, Byrd bakes delicious bite-sized flavors and operates retail stores throughout the Southeast, and has four commercial bakeries in Georgia, Florida, and California.
Byrd Cookie Company was originally founded in Savannah, Ga. in 1924, when Benjamin Tillman “Pop” Byrd, Sr. opened a small bakery and traveled to local markets in his Model T Ford. Today, the family-owned company – now in its fourth and fifth generation – bakes more than one billion cookies each year, providing award-winning items to major retailers and customers around the world. Fifth-generation Jamie Lindley recently introduced Baby Byrd, his daughter and sixth generation, Ellie.
