Coastal Heritage Society Receives $65,000 Donation from Norfolk Southern

Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) received a $65,000 donation from Norfolk Southern to support the Georgia State Railroad Museum.
Norfolk Southern is a railroad company that transports freight across 22 states and Washington, D.C., and its network powers service and growth for more than half of the U.S. population and manufacturing base. Norfolk Southern is focused on building relationships and making investments that promote safe and sustainable operations, develop the local workforce, and build strong, thriving communities.
"We are proud to support Coastal Heritage Society and Georgia State Railroad Museum," said Kristin Wong, Director Corporate Giving at Norfolk Southern. "This donation reflects our commitment to preserving and celebrating the rich history of railroads, which are an integral part of our nation’s heritage."
As part of their partnership, CHS hosted Norfolk Southern employees and their families at Tricentennial Park for “Norfolk Southern Family Day” on June 1, coinciding with the anniversary of the company’s founding. Families enjoyed various train activities at Savannah Children’s Museum, unique interactive model train presented by Coastal Rail Buffs at the Railroad Museum, and Loyalists & Liberty Battlefield Tours at Savannah History Museum.
As a thank you for this generous donation, CHS hosted Norfolk Southern employees and their families at Tricentennial Park for “Norfolk Southern Family Day” on June 1, which happens to be the anniversary of the company’s conception. Families enjoyed train activities at the Children’s Museum, unique interactive model train layouts by Coastal Rail Buffs at the railroad museum, and Loyalists & Liberty Battlefield Tours at Savannah History Museum. In addition, they were offered, discounted CHS memberships other discounts in their various gift shops.
