Hartsfield-Jackson Remains World’s Busiest Airport

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has once again been recognized as the busiest airport in the world by Airports Council International (ACI) World, according to the latest ACI World Airport Traffic Dataset for 2023. The Airport continues to lead globally in passenger traffic and aircraft movements. It also remains a key hub for connecting travelers worldwide. 

ACI's dataset highlights the resurgence of international travel and the pivotal role ATL plays in global aviation. In 2023, ATL handled over 104 million passengers, a significant 11.7% increase from 2022, reaffirming its status as the world's leading airport in passenger numbers.

The ACI World report also highlighted the significant increase in aircraft movements at ATL, with nearly 776,000 takeoffs and landings in 2023. This growth reflects a strong recovery in global aviation activity and the Airport's ability to efficiently handle increased traffic. 

Key Highlights from ACI World Airport Traffic Dataset:

  • ATL handled 104,653,451 passengers in 2023, up 11.7% from 2022.

  • The airport recorded 775,818 aircraft movements, marking a 7.1% increase from the previous year.

  • ATL continues to serve as a major hub for domestic and international flights, connecting travelers to destinations across the globe.
