Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is delighted to announce the donation of tens of thousands of art materials to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System today as part of the university’s annual art supply donation event.

The items presented to the art educators were donated by SCAD students at the end of the academic year.  The SCAD SERVE team organized all the supplies and curated a box full of colorful and creative tools for their students. The new and gently used supplies included paint, brushes, fabric, charcoal, sketch paper, portfolio bags and many other artistic tools.   Every SCCPSS art teacher received a box of supplies and “shopped” for other classroom materials.

“The availability of these supplies is the result of generous donations from SCAD students and faculty. These materials will enrich art education throughout the county and spark creativity and imagination, helping to inspire the next generation of artists and designers,” said SCAD SERVE vice president Scott Linzey.

“We are grateful to SCAD SERVE for their continued support of our educators and students,” said SCCPSS superintendent Dr. Denise Watts. “These supplies will allow our teachers to introduce their students to art and the creative process, which will help them see the world in new ways and provide access to ways of knowing each other and themselves.  Art opens up worlds of unlimited possibility for our students!”

Inaugurated by SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace in 2010, the SCAD has made high-quality arts education possible for thousands of students across the region. SCAD SERVE empowers SCAD students, faculty, and staff to make meaningful contributions through intentional initiatives that improve quality of life for our communities.
