AT&T has expanded its 5G network in Clyo, giving residents, businesses and visitors a big boost in their wireless connectivity. AT&T added network infrastructure to enhance the area’s coverage and capacity.
A new site in Clyo boosts coverage along Highway 119. Another site in Clyo improves coverage along Clyo Kildare Road in between Highway 119 and Highway 21.
“We appreciate AT&T’s continued investment in wireless infrastructure in Effingham County and for its commitment to working alongside our state’s leaders to close the digital divide throughout rural Georgia,” said Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns. “These new cell sites will provide enhanced connectivity for our citizens, local businesses and first responders to access educational opportunities, develop new job skills and keep our communities safe.”
AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 300 million people in over 24,900 cities and towns nationwide, which includes Effingham County. This helps Georgia residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.
These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is nationwide, high-quality spectrum set aside by the government specifically for FirstNet® - the only nationwide communications network created with and for public safety. We look at Band 14 as public safety’s VIP lane. In an emergency, this band – or lane – can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.
“At AT&T, we know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. We are proud to invest in Effingham County with wireless infrastructure necessary to connect in today’s digital world,” said Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “With enhanced wireless coverage, our customers will be able to experience better network connectivity that will help with virtual learning, responding to emergencies and connecting with one another.”
From 2019 to 2023, AT&T invested nearly $14.9 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Georgia. These investments boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and their businesses.
