ABC Waste Inc., a locally-owned waste management company based in Savannah, recently acquired the area’s only glass recycling company, Lammergeier, LLC (Savannah Glass Recycling). ABC Waste will use its existing fleet to provide residential and commercial glass recycling programs for the Chatham County/Savannah area.

ABC Waste has been serving the Savannah area since 1956. Their expertise in recycling and waste-hauling for residential, commercial, and industrial customers has allowed them to streamline the collection process for customers of Lammergeier. All existing customers of the glass recycling company were transitioned to ABC Waste and are now being serviced on a routine schedule.

"We are excited to lead the industry in sustainable practices. We don't always have the luxury of knowing what happens with all the materials we recycle, but with glass, every bottle we collect is being used to make a brand new bottle that will be resold in the Southeast. To think soon we will be able to walk into a gas station and buy a bottle that was made from glass recycled in our own community is exciting," says Charles Stewart, general manager of ABC Waste.

ABC Glass has begun expanding its customer base with businesses in the Savannah area, with plans to roll out additional residential glass recycling routes in areas with high demand for the service.
