How is the Economic Impact of the Childcare & Maternal Health Crisis in Georgia Affecting Your Business?
Friday, September 6th, 2024
By investing in expanded maternal health services and childcare support, Georgia companies can not only improve employee well-being but also boost their bottom line.
Georgia employees are sending a clear message: they are loyal to companies that offer benefits they value. The 2024 Business Generosity Report revealed overwhelming employee support for expanded maternal health services (85%) and childcare support (83%). Turns out, these benefits are crucial for building a positive company culture, increasing productivity, and reducing burnout.
The Maternal Health Gap: Despite its near universal level of importance to 85% of all employees (men and women), only 21% of companies offer expanded maternal health services. The importance employees place on this has risen 9 points since 2023 and yet fewer executives report offering this than in 2023. This is especially concerning considering Georgia's high maternal mortality rate, particularly for women of color.
Trickle-Down Benefits of Childcare Support: Similarly, childcare support is falling short (only 15% of companies offer it) despite strong employee demand (83% of men and women). A lack of childcare support impacts productivity, especially for Millennials and employees of color. Studies show childcare benefits can lead to a 425% ROI through increased recruitment, retention, and productivity.
The report offers resources to help companies implement these solutions.
