Thursday, October 24th, 2024
Greenbriar Children’s Center, one of Savannah and Chatham County’s oldest continually operating non-profits, announces its 75th Anniversary Gala, “An Evening of Community” to celebrate its decades-long mission with the support of the local community.
“Since its founding as an orphanage for Black children in 1949, Greenbriar has remained true to its mission of nurturing children and strengthening families,” said Gena P. Taylor, Executive Director of Greenbriar Children’s Center. “Today, 75 years later, Greenbriar continues to serve as an emergency shelter for children in crisis ages 11-18. In addition, we provide affordable and accessible care and early learning to children as young as six weeks to five years of age, along with a family preservation and support program which provides additional services to families in need.”
Honorary Co-Chairs for the evening are Representative Edna Johnson, member of the Georgia House of Representatives and former Mayor of Savannah, and Sam McCachern, Chief Executive Officer and President of Thomas & Hutton.
