Pool Protection Technologies (PPT), a Savannah-based start-up pioneering sustainable pool
maintenance technology, is proud to announce its recent triumph at the BizPitch Columbus
competition, where it claimed both the Audience Choice Award and the Grand Prize. This
achievement underscores the company’s mission to innovate pool care, reduce chemical usage,
and expand its impact throughout Savannah and beyond. With $16,000 in new funding, PPT is
set to accelerate its growth, boosting local manufacturing and job opportunities in Savannah.
Founded by Garrett Stigall, Pool Protection Technologies has already established itself as a
leader in the Savannah entrepreneurial scene, developing a groundbreaking product that
targets algae in residential pools through ultrasonic technology. Known as S.A.M.(Sound
Amplifying Machine), this device offers pool owners an eco-friendly alternative to traditional
chemical treatments, reducing chemical dependency and maintenance costs while ensuring
clean, algae-free pools.
“We are thrilled to bring this recognition and investment back to Savannah, where we’ve
received so much support from local organizations like ATDC and the wider community,” said
Garrett Stigall. “With this funding, we are not only expanding our production here in Savannah,
but we are also creating jobs and bringing innovative technology that can change the way pool
maintenance is done across the Southeast.”
The infusion of funds from BizPitch Columbus will allow PPT to increase production capacity in
Savannah, meeting a rising demand for sustainable pool solutions in Georgia and the broader
region. As PPT prepares for the 2025 pool season, the company is also committed to fostering
local talent by hiring skilled technicians, engineers, and production staff to join the team at their
Savannah facility.
Local Impact and Expansion Plans
The success of Pool Protection Technologies at BizPitch Columbus signals Savannah’s growing
role as a hub for innovative start-ups and green technology. PPT’s expansion not only
strengthens Savannah’s economy but also offers eco-conscious residents a sustainable solution
for pool maintenance. By reducing chemical dependency in pools by up to 70%, S.A.M. aligns
with Savannah’s commitment to environmental responsibility and public health.
With over 30,000 hours of testing and successful trials in pools across the region, S.A.M. has
demonstrated its reliability and effectiveness. As more Savannah pool owners switch to this new
technology, the community can look forward to healthier pools, reduced maintenance costs, and
a positive impact on local ecosystems.
