This year’s event was themed “Lighting the Way for a Brighter Tomorrow,” reflecting LDSS’s ongoing mission to create inclusive opportunities and brighter futures for all.
This year’s Champions are:
Africa Bennett – Goodwill Southeast Georgia, Eisenhower Store
Bennett has dedicated nearly 18 years to Goodwill, building financial independence and achieving homeownership despite mobility challenges. Her work ethic and positivity continue to inspire.
Klaudia Byra – Simply Southern Caterers
Byra, who lives with selective mutism, expresses herself through smiles and gestures. Known affectionately as “Saucy,” she crafts sauces and desserts and brings joy to the Springfield, Georgia, community.
Brandon Grissette – Savannah Martial Arts
Grissette began as a student volunteer and quickly became a valued team member. His enthusiasm and commitment exemplify the mission of Savannah Martial Arts.
Samuel Munoz – Blandford Elementary School
Munoz is a beloved presence at Blandford Elementary, warmly greeting everyone by name each morning. His joyful spirit and dedication make him a key part of the school’s culture.
Joshua Williams – HandiAcc, LLC
Williams is the founder of HandiAcc, where he helps businesses become more inclusive through accessibility consulting and “roll-in” evaluations. His leadership is shaping a more accessible future across Georgia.
In addition, Juliet Hardeman received the 2025 President’s Award. A former special education teacher and advocate, Hardeman has served on the Georgia State Rehabilitation Council and the LDSS board. She is known for her unwavering support of students with disabilities and their families.
“Our mission at LDSS extends far beyond a mere awards ceremony; it’s a platform for recognizing the incredible potential inherent in every individual,” said Candy Bogardus, president of LDSS.
The Hiring Expo, held in conjunction with the celebration, featured companies offering job opportunities tailored to adults with diverse abilities. The event highlighted the profound impact of inclusive hiring practices and provided a space for employers and job seekers to connect directly.
Night of Champions continues to serve as a beacon of progress and advocacy, showcasing how embracing workplace diversity benefits employees, businesses and the broader community.
