Great Dane to Commemorate 125th Anniversary with Mayor Proclamation Event in Johnson Square
Monday, December 1st, 2025
Great Dane, a leader in transportation solutions founded in Savannah, GA, will host a public commemoration on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 9-11 a.m., to commemorate the conclusion of the company’s 125th anniversary year. The event will take place in historic Johnson Square, honoring the company’s deep roots and enduring history within the Savannah community.
The celebration will include a formal Proclamation Ceremony officiated by Savannah Mayor Van Johnson. The company will be honored for more than a century of American ingenuity, with contributions that have shaped our nation’s progress, particularly in the transportation industry.
“For 125 years, Great Dane has been about moving the Americas forward, and that journey began right here in Savannah. This celebration is more than an anniversary; it’s a moment to honor the generations of builders, innovators, and community partners who built this company,” said Rick Mullininx, President & COO of Great Dane. “We are celebrating our shared history and our collective future, and we’re proud to do it in the city that has been our home from the start.”
A key feature of the event will be a special display of a restored Great Dane 1953 vintage trailer, part of a mobile museum project developed in collaboration with SCADpro, the Savannah College of Art and Design’s design studio. Inside, the trailer serves as a museum celebrating 125 years of Great Dane’s history, highlighting iconic designs, milestones, and innovations that have shaped the company and led the transportation industry. The trailer showcases the fusion of historic craftsmanship and modern innovation and will be open for touring.
