State Investments Strengthen Savannah’s Economic Outlook
Friday, January 16th, 2026
At Wednesday's Georgia Chamber "Eggs & Issues" breakfast and during his annual State of the State address, Governor Brian Kemp outlined his budget proposal to business leaders and state lawmakers, highlighting key investments across Georgia.
"Once again, Gov. Kemp has shown his commitment to our region and to growing Georgia’s economy through thoughtful investments," said Bert Brantley, president and CEO of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce. "In particular, $5 million for the Savannah Convention Center, $50 million for homelessness programs statewide, and $3 million for increased tourism and business recruitment marketing will have a significant impact right here in Savannah.”
Brantley added that as the Chamber looks ahead to its Savannah–Chatham Day event in Atlanta in the coming weeks, there is strong momentum behind the organization's 2026 legislative agenda. He also expressed sincere thanks to Gov. Kemp, his staff, and the team at the Office of Planning and Budget for their continued support of Coastal Georgia.
The Chamber's Savannah–Chatham Day will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at the State Capitol, providing Chamber members with an opportunity to bring the organization's legislative priorities directly to state lawmakers and agency leaders.
The day allows local business leaders to engage in meaningful conversations about legislation impacting the region, while also showcasing the economic strengths and assets Savannah and Chatham County contribute to the state.
