Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI) is proud to announce the honorees for its 2026 Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Awards Luncheon, that will take place on May 14, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Palmetto Club at The Landings.
The Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Awards honor individuals whose lives reflect leadership, service, and a deep commitment to community. These honorees embody the very values that guide Senior Citizens Inc. - purpose, compassion, integrity, and a belief in giving back.
This year’s honorees - Pat Hackney, Shirley Barber James, and Dr. Paul Pressly, - represent lives lived with intention and generosity, leaving a lasting impact that personifies what it means to have a life well lived.
Pat Hackney is a beloved community leader whose lifelong service has strengthened Savannah through education, philanthropy, and volunteerism. Known for bringing people together in service of the greater good, her leadership and generosity exemplify the spirit of community..
Shirley Barber James is a respected civic leader whose work in education, journalism, and public service has profoundly shaped Savannah’s community life. As publisher of The Savannah Tribune and a leader across numerous civic organizations, she has championed education, civic engagement, and connection.
Dr. Paul Pressly is a lifelong educator and scholar whose leadership shaped generations of students and enriched Savannah’s educational and cultural life. Through teaching, scholarship, and stewardship of educational resources on Ossabaw Island, he has inspired curiosity, integrity, and lifelong learning.
“Each of these honorees reflects the values we strive to uphold every day at Senior Citizens Inc.,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “Their lives remind us that lives well lived are measured not only in accomplishments, but in service, compassion, and the example we set for others.”
The luncheon celebrates their impact while reaffirming a shared responsibility: ensuring that people in our community can age successfully with dignity, connection, and care.
Proceeds from the event support Senior Citizens Inc.’s mission of helping older adults age successfully through programs that strengthen the body, stimulate the mind, cultivate purpose, and foster community and help ensure everyone has the opportunity to have a life well lived.
