Monday, May 18th, 2026
In recognition of National Hospital Week, Governor Brian Kemp has officially proclaimed this week, May 10-16, 2026, as Georgia Hospital Week, honoring the dedicated healthcare professionals, caregivers, and hospital teams who serve communities across the state every day.
Observed nationally each May, Hospital Week celebrates the vital role hospitals and healthcare workers play in protecting the health and well-being of patients and families. The Governor’s proclamation highlights the unwavering commitment, compassion, and resilience demonstrated by Georgia hospitals and their employees.
“Georgia’s hospitals are the backbone of our healthcare system and a cornerstone of every community,” said Caylee Noggle, President and CEO of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA). “During Georgia Hospital Week, we proudly recognize the physicians, nurses, technicians, support staff, administrators, and volunteers whose dedication ensures Georgians receive high-quality care when they need it most.”
The proclamation also acknowledges the critical economic and community impact created by hospitals throughout Georgia, serving as major employers, emergency response partners, and leaders in advancing public health.
“This recognition from Governor Kemp is a meaningful tribute to the extraordinary people working in hospitals across our state,” Scott Steiner, President and CEO of Phoebe Putney Health System and GHA Board Chair, added. “Their service, professionalism, and compassion deserve to be celebrated not only this week, but every day.”
National Hospital Week was first established in 1953 and continues to serve as an opportunity to thank healthcare teams for their tireless efforts and commitment to patient care.
