Monday, June 15th, 2026
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) 2026–2031 Strategic Plan was adopted by the Board of Education during the June 3 board meeting. This plan is a comprehensive roadmap designed to expand opportunities, strengthen student outcomes, and build a future-ready school system for every child.
Centered on the theme “Unlimited Possibilities,” the plan reflects a unified commitment to ensuring that every student receives a consistent, high-quality educational experience every day, in every school. The plan outlines a clear vision for preparing students to graduate ready to succeed in college, careers, and life, while strengthening trust with families, employees, and the broader community.
The plan was developed through extensive engagement with students, families, staff, and community partners and reflects shared priorities across the district and community. It also establishes a clear framework for action, accountability, and measurable impact. At the foundation of the strategic plan is the belief that every student deserves access to rigorous instruction, meaningful opportunities, and supportive learning environments, regardless of school or background.
The plan is organized around four key systemwide pillars:
- Future-Ready Academic Excellence
- World-Class Talent
- Engagement, Outreach & Partnerships
- Operational Excellence & Accountability
Together, these pillars guide the district’s work to strengthen instruction, support staff, enhance communication, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources—all aligned to improving student outcomes.
“This strategic plan represents our commitment to transformation,” said Dr. Denise Watts, Superintendent of Schools. “This plan is about creating a district where academic excellence is the standard for all, not the exception, and where every school opens the door to unlimited possibilities that students walk through with confidence.”
The plan also includes a structured accountability system with clearly defined goals, progress indicators, and performance measures to ensure transparency and sustained progress over time.
School Board President Roger Moss emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared ownership in bringing the plan to life. “This strategic plan is both a roadmap and a promise to our students, families, staff, and community,” said Roger Moss. “It reflects our commitment to guiding our school system forward with intention and accountability, always centered on student success.”
Implementation of the plan will occur in phases over five years, beginning with laying a strong foundation and progressing toward systemwide alignment, expanded opportunities, and sustained excellence by 2031. Ultimately, the SCCPSS Strategic Plan is designed to ensure that every student graduates prepared to pursue choice-filled lives and limitless opportunities, supported by a school system grounded in excellence, innovation, and trust.
