Georgia Power CEO Shares Energy Outlook with Chamber Industry Council
Friday, July 24th, 2026
More than 80 business and community leaders attended this week's Chamber Industry Council meeting, in partnership with RISE Savannah, to hear directly from Georgia Power President and CEO Kim Greene on the state’s energy outlook.
Greene discussed how Georgia’s approach to energy generation, distribution, long-term planning, and financing differs from many other parts of the country. She highlighted the importance of maintaining a reliable and diverse energy portfolio while planning for continued population growth and economic development across the state.
While utility rates are facing upward pressure in many areas of the country, Greene shared that the total rate paid by Georgia Power customers is currently lower than it was at this time last year. Georgia Power has also committed to a three-year freeze on base rates, while its fuel recovery rate remains below last year’s level.
The discussion provided Chamber members with valuable insight into the energy infrastructure and planning needed to support Georgia’s continued growth and competitiveness.
