Georgia's Credit Unions Finish 2017 with Strong Loan Growth

Georgia credit unions finished 2017 with strong loan growth aided by near cyclical highs in U.S. consumer confidence. Lending at Georgia credit unions grew by 1.8 percent in the fourth quarter – eclipsing the third quarter’s 1.5 percent rate but landing short of the 3.2 percent rate in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to data collected by the Credit Union National Association.

Gulfstream to Expand in Savannah

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced plans to build a new service center at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in response to its growing customer fleet’s needs for maintenance and service. The service center is expected to open in the second quarter of 2019 and create about 200 jobs.

Utah again earns the top spot for states with the best economic outlook, followed by Idaho, Indiana, North Dakota and Arizona. For the fiscal year to date (July-March), TEU container trade grew by 9 percent, or 255,786 additional units for a total of 3.08 million, a new record for Savannah.

Publix Savannah Women's Half & 5K Makes $1.8M Impact in the Community

Last weekend, the fourth annual Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K hosted nearly 2,500 participants representing nine countries outside of the U.S. and 40 states. The weekend’s race-related visitation accounted for more than 3,300 room nights in area hotels and a direct visitor spend of over $1.8 million.
