Thursday, July 11th, 2013

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America today announced Lowe's donation of $1 million to refurbish Clubs across the country. Lowe's grants of up to $50,000 will fund repairs and renovations at 20 Boys & Girls Clubs, from northern Washington state to South Florida.

A partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of America since 2009, Lowe's selected the Clubs based on immediate facility improvement needs, the creativity of the projects and the potential impact on youth members. Club staff will work to complete the projects in 2013. At many locations, Lowe's Heroes employee volunteers will provide hands-on help with the improvement projects.

"We are very thankful for Lowe's continued support over the past few years, providing essential updates and improvements for our Clubs throughout the country," said Jim Clark, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. "This $1 million investment will help provide places where our Club members can grow and develop the skills they need for a great future."

Boys & Girls Clubs work each day to help young people reach their potential and achieve success. Since 2009, Lowe's has contributed $4 million in grants to fund improvements at more than 80 clubs.

"For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs have delivered high-impact youth development programs that promote academic success, good character and healthy lifestyles," said Joan Higginbotham, Lowe's director of community relations. "With the $1 million donation and the help of our Lowe's Heroes, we're able to improve our local communities and support the development of tomorrow's leaders."
