Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

JetBlue Airways, New York's Hometown Airline, today announces the intent to serve two in-demand destinations – Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (a) and Savannah/Hilton Head – with non-stop flights from New York's JFK International Airport.

Twice-daily non-stop service between Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), convenient to both Georgia and South Carolina, and New York starts February 13, 2014. Flights are available today at www.jetblue.com/new for as low as $79 one way for travel between February 13 and March 31, 2014. Blackout dates apply (b).

Savannah/Hilton Head will be JetBlue's 83rd BlueCity. In addition to JetBlue's non-stop service to New York, customers will be able to connect to other destinations in the United States includingAlbuquerque, NM; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA and San Francisco, CA, among others.Port of Spain will become the airline's 84th BlueCity (a).  Customers traveling from Port of Spain toNew York will be able to connect onwards to destinations including Denver, CO and Las Vegas, NV.

"Our NY Hometown focus includes adding non-stop destinations to places that are important to New Yorkers. Given the success of our current network, Savannah and Port of Spain make perfect sense," said Scott Laurence, vice president of network planning for JetBlue Airways. "We combine low fares with the best customer experience in the skies. Customers visiting Savannah, Hilton Head and the surrounding area, as well as Trinidad and Tobago have dealt with high fares, cramped seating and limited choices for too long."

Congratulations to the Commission staff for their perseverance. Come on Savannah…Let's fly JetBlue!," said Sylvester Formey, chairman, Savannah Airport Commission.

Visit Savannah, the official resource for travel to Savannah, and The Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce has also extended a warm welcome to JetBlue. "This has not been an overnight success story by any means.  Instead, years of research and collaboration (on both sides) have gone into building the foundation of what is sure to be a long-term partnership," said Joe Marinelli, president of Visit Savannah.

"JetBlue brings value, competitive fares, additional flight options and a stellar reputation for customer service.  We are thrilled to have one of the most highly regarded airlines in the industry servicing our region. It's a winning combination for both Savannah and Hilton Head Island travelers, residents and the business community," stated Bill Miles, president and chief executive officer of Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.

Service from Savannah will be operated with its 100-seat Embraer E190 fleet. JetBlue flights feature award-winning service and convenient, assigned seating; a first-checked bag free (c); complimentary and unlimited name brand snacks and drinks; comfy leather seats; and more legroom than any other carrier in coach (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch for U.S. airlines).
