Armstrong Atlantic State University recently named George Lantzounis, Director of Career Services. In his new position, Mr. Lantzounis assists students to develop necessary skills in order to meet the demands of today’s workforce. He plans to build bridges with potential employers and to establish strong connections between the university and the Savannah community. 

“Armstrong is an up-and-coming university with leadership positions that offer programs for students and faculty to have a one-on-one connection,” he said. “I look forward to working with students to explore future career paths.” 

Mr. Lantzounis’s career has been defined by servitude and outreach. As an educator, he worked for 15 years as the Assistant Director of higher education at SUNY Rockland College in Suffern, N.Y. He started as a job placement coordinator for students and later moved to financial aid, work study and outreach programs for the community. 

He previously served as a program specialist for Bergen County’s Department of Human Services, Planning and Contract Administration in Hackensack, N.J. Prior to overseeing outreach programs as a Bergen County program specialist, he served as a senior employment specialist for Westchester Association for Retarded Citizens in Yonkers, N.Y, securing job placements for high-functioning individuals. 

Mr. Lantzounis is a member of the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) and the National Student Employment Association (NSEA). He is Certified Strong Interest Inventory Practitioner. He earned a B.S. in Psychology from Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, W. Va. and a M.A. in Counselor Education from New York University’s School of Health, Education and Nursing in New York City.
