Lori Judge Confirms Acquisitions of Two More Broughton Street Properties
Press release from the issuing company
Friday, February 21st, 2014
The Broughton Street Project, a collaboration between Ben Carter Enterprises and Judge Realty, announced today that two additional historic Broughton Street properties were acquired this week.
“We closed on 226/228 and 223 West Broughton Street on Tuesday,” said Lori Judge, owner and principal broker of Judge Realty. “These were early contracts, and future closings will most likely come in groupings of several at a time.”
In addition to the two closings this week, the Broughton Street Project expects to close on two more properties by the end of the month and 16 during March and April. The remainder of the acquisitions is expected to take place in early summer.
“We now have four of the 20 plus buildings done,” said Ben Carter, founder of the Atlanta-based Ben Carter Enterprises. “Buying assemblages of buildings is unlike buying one larger building. It involves a complex task of underwriting, which takes more time. We appreciate several sellers giving us another month and understanding our needs.”
Judge, who is also a partner in the project, is heavily involved in leasing the Broughton Street properties to interested retailers.
“The last several weeks have been retailer tour de jour. One day we’re taking them to lunch at the Pink House, and the next day we’re taking a group to the Tea Room,” Judge said. “It’s exciting to be on the front line of such endless possibilities.”
