Google Fiber's Atlanta Rollout Skips Business Customers

Google’s plans to launch superfast Internet in metro Atlanta comes with a major drawback.
Google Fiber — which would deliver Internet speeds 100 times faster than basic broadband — would be limited to residential customers, according to a filing obtained by Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Not providing access to businesses excludes those most likely to benefit from “gigabit Internet” speeds.
Google’s decision to shut out businesses could kneecap economic development efforts. Cities won’t have the Google Fiber carrot to dangle in front of fast-growing, data-driven technology, financial and medical services companies who trade on Internet speed.
