Georgia Heritage FCU Opens New Stephenson Branch
Press release from the issuing company
Friday, April 4th, 2014
Georgia Heritage FCU has announced the opening of its newest branch located in the Stephenson Executive Center, on the corner of Stephenson Ave. and Habersham St. in Southside Savannah. The 3,216-square-foot space includes four offices, six teller stations, two drive-thru lanes and a separate drive-thru lane for the ATM.
Originally formed in 1940 as Union Bag Federal Credit Union to serve the needs of Union Camp employees, the Credit Union’s name was changed in 1999 to Georgia Heritage when Union Camp Corporation was purchased by International Paper (IP). The new name marked the beginning of many changes including a community charter conversion in 2006, making Georgia Heritage available to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Chatham, Effingham and Bryan counties. Today, the corporate offices continue to be housed in the branch located on IP property at 1085 West Lathrop Avenue, Savannah. In March 2012, the Pooler branch of Georgia Heritage opened off Pooler Parkway. It was named the “2013 Business of the Year” by the Pooler Chamber of Commerce.
“With assets over $80 million and more than 8,000 members, we are pleased to open our third location in Chatham County, making us very convenient for our members,” said President/CEO Dale Taratuta.
The Grand Opening of the Stephenson branch will be held on Saturday, April 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Following an 11:00 ribbon-cutting ceremony, there will be food and fun for the entire family, as well as special promotions, giveaways and door prizes.
Regular hours of operation at the branch will be Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday lobby hours until 5:30 p.m. and drive-thru until 6:00; Saturday drive-thru only from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
