Influenza B Hits Savannah Region This Spring
Press release from the issuing company
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014
In spite of sporadic spring temperatures and intense pollen in the Savannah region, Urgent Care 24/7 doctors are reporting a significant rise in the number of cases of influenza B in our region, especially among children. They are advising everyone and parents in particular to pay attention to symptoms which might be mistaken for allergies.
Dr. Jerry Williams from Urgent Care 24/7 says “We are seeing a mini bump in patients suffering from flu at the moment at our five clinics in downtown Savannah, Midtown, Sandfly, Pooler and Tybee Island. It is hitting kids in particular and this infection is raising its nasty head late in the season. If you or a member of your family are suffering from a severe cough, runny nose and eyes, high fever and aching all over, then ask a medical professional for a simple flu test. This swab can determine if you have the flu virus and ensure that you receive the right treatment”
Dr. Williams also advises “Do not be afraid to insist on a test; remember if you never take a temperature then you will never find a fever! Testing is vital to medical professionals and helps us with the ‘differential diagnosis’ – we need to rule out possibilities and ensure our patients receive the correct diagnosis”.
