Thursday, May 29th, 2014

Stafford Promotions, a leading a professional events services agency located in Savannah, and the Savannah Waterfront Association are gearing up to host The Crawl of the South, Savannah’s attempt to shatter the Guinness World Records for the largest pub crawl in the world on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

“Currently the Guinness World Record for the largest bar crawl is held at 4,885 people by Kansas City, Mo.,” said Brian Stafford, event organizer and owner of Stafford Promotions. “Not only do we want to beat Kansas City’s record, we want to set the bar so high that Savannah stays in the book forever!”

As with all of Stafford Promotions’ Bar Crawl events, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local nonprofit, with this event benefiting the United Way of the Coastal Empire, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Savannah, and the Humane Society of Savannah.

The Crawl of the South will begin in Ellis Square and stretch all the way to the Rousakis Waterfront Plaza on Historic River Street, covering 30 of Savannah’s most fun, beautiful, liveliest, haunted and quirkiest pubs and bars in historic downtown Savannah. After registration and packet pickup, participants will take their scorecard and map and venture to at least 10 of the participating locations listed.

After visiting 10 bars/pubs, participants will make their way to the finish line at the plaza on River Street for an exclusive after-party, which will include a celebratory drink, samplings of Savannah’s most mouth-watering foods, music by DJ B-rad, photo booth fun and mechanical bull rides.

“We’re calling on the support of all Savannah locals and visitors to join in our quest to make history,” said Stafford. “Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and visitors -- we want you all to join in the celebration with us!”
