Savannah recently was chosen by ConventionSouth magazine readers and fans as the No. 2 “Southern Hot Spot for Winter Meetings & Events” and by Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine readers for a 2014 Award of Excellence. Tybee Island placed as No. 3 in the ConventionSouth reader poll.

“We’re quickly finding out that there isn’t much of a meetings and tourism ‘off-season’ in Savannah anymore,” said Joseph Marinelli, Visit Savannah president. “Events like the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon and Savannah Food & Wine Festival in the fall and the Savannah Black Heritage Festival, Savannah Book Festival and the Savannah Music Festival in February and March, our special events calendar is filling up quickly.  Add to that a number of annual conventions that return every January and it all makes for a very busy year for us.”

Readers of ConventionSouth chose Savannah and Tybee Island out of 50 destinations across the Southeast and Caribbean Seas region as a top spot for meetings that seek to attract warm-weather seeking attendees, exhibitors and sponsors. As a result of being chosen in the ConventionSouth poll, Savannah and Tybee Island will be featured in the July 2014 issue.

Visit Savannah was chosen by Corporate & Incentive Travel magazine subscribers who voted on convention and visitors’ bureaus that best served their corporate meetings and incentive travel programs during the past year.

“Honors like ‘awards of excellence’ don’t come along every day, and on behalf of the board of directors of Visit Savannah, we’re very fortunate to have a strong team in place that represents Savannah and Chatham County well in the national meetings, conventions and group tour marketplace.,” said Jack Bussert, general manager of River Street Inn and Visit Savannah chairman.
