Zachary Howard Elected to Young Lawyers Division Executive Council

Zachary Howard, an associate in Oliver Maner’s litigation department, graduated from the State Bar of Georgia’s 2014 Leadership Academy on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the State Bar’s annual meeting in Amelia Island, Florida. The Leadership Academy, run by the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division, was founded in 2006 and is a program for young lawyers who are interested in developing their leadership skills as well as learning more about their profession, their communities and their state. Associates Justin Jones and Bryan Schivera are prior alumni of the Leadership Academy, which consists of six sessions of programming on topics including State Bar governance, lawyers as leaders in state government, community service, diversity, professionalism, and others.

Zack was also elected at the State Bar meeting to serve as a representative from the Southern District of Georgia to the Young Layers Division’s Executive Council. The Executive Council controls and administers the affairs of the Young Lawyers Division and is comprised of the YLD Officers and Directors, ten elected YLD members from each Federal Judicial District within Georgia, two elected out-of-state members, and twelve elected members-at-large. Executive Council Members are the voice of the YLD members in their district and help lead the YLD and its various committees and service projects.
