2014 marks the 20th anniversary of the annual tradition, the Magnolia Park Neighborhood Association’s 4th of July Neighborhood Parade.

As every year, the MPNA is preparing for their 4th of July festivities, which will feature the neighborhood parade followed by the annual 4th of July BBQ and picnic by the pool.

The parade will start on the corner of Woodland Dr. and Forsyth Rd. at 11:00 AM on 07/04/2014. Residents are invited to bring family and friends to participate in this year’s celebration.

The parade will feature decorated   bikes, golf carts, wheel barrels or even   lawnmowers in red white and blue to parade through the neighborhood.

Assembly for the parade will start at 10:30 AM.

The parade route will take participants from the assembly at the corner of Forsyth Street and Woodland Drive (off Derenne Ave.), and then wind its way through the neighborhood streets of Woodland Drive, Forsyth Street, Colonial Drive, Lovett, Brogden, Latimer, Cokesbury, Morgan, Bacon Park Drive and end up at the Magnolia Park Neighborhood Pool for the picnic and BBQ festivities.

The end of the parade is scheduled for noon with a pledge to the flag at the pool lawn.

The parade and BBQ at the pool are sponsored by the Magnolia Park Neighborhood association and are open to all Magnolia Park Neighborhood association members, as well as the pool members of the MP pool.  All MP residents, and their families and friends are invited to participate in the parade and join the festivities and picnic at the pool lawn.

Residents come together as a neighborhood family and everybody is bringing dessert dishes, side items and snack varieties to add to the picnic in an old fashioned way.

“Our annual Magnolia Park 4th of July Neighborhood Parade is a cherished tradition, which brings out old and young, long- time residents as well as the families, which just discovered Magnolia Park as one of the greenest and kid- friendly neighborhoods in Savannah. Everybody likes to participate on bikes, in golf-carts, on scooters and anything “that rolls”, decorated in red – white and blue to honor our nations birthday,” said Don Consos, MPNA president.

Past year’s parades brought over 300 residents out to walk, participate and cheer along the route.
