Monday, July 14th, 2014

WHAT: Senior Citizens Inc. Summer Angels Service Program. Twenty-four middle school students will participate in the 8th annual Summer Angels service camp held by Senior Citizens Inc. The Summer Angels program matches middle-grades students from Savannah with activities that help seniors at various levels of need and in a variety of living situations. Participating students will engage in more than 1,000 hours of programming with more than 100 seniors. The camp’s itinerary includes yard work for senior clients on a weekly basis, home delivery of meals, frequent craft projects and sing-along sessions at SCI’s Adult Daytime Care Center/Neighborhood Centers, and pet food delivery.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 15-Thursday, July 31. Sessions will be held Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

WHERE: Senior Citizens, Inc.

3025 Bull St.

Savannah, Ga. 31405

FUN FACT: A notable fact about this year’s camp is that it is being led for the second time by one of the original Summer Angels, Caroline Willoughby. Willoughby participated in the program as an eighth grader in 2006. The camp made such a positive impression on her as a young adult that she chose to study recreational therapy in college with the intent of working with seniors in the future. Willoughby graduated this past spring from Georgia Southern University.
