The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa is the place to be on Saturday, Aug. 16, as the 6th Annual “Death by Chocolate: A Chocolate and Champagne Affair” is scheduled to delight one and all from 6 to 9 p.m. This festive event will feature chocolate delicacies prepared by some of the Lowcountry’s top chefs, a silent auction, prizes awarded for the best chocolate dishes, and yes, the bubbly will be flowing. Proceeds from the event will go to support the many important programs of the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina (GSESC). The “Death by Chocolate” even is sponsored by Audi Hilton Head, the premier Hilton Head area Audi dealer (http://www.audihiltonhead.com/cities/audi-dealership-near-beaufort-sc/).
"This is our first time sponsoring an event with the Girl Scouts, and we are looking forward to being involved with such a great organization that helps youth in our community," said Warner Peacock, President and CEO of the New River Auto Mall. "And of course, we are excited for all of the chocolate dishes from our great local restaurants."
The event features chefs and vendors from across Beaufort County who will be offering tastings of exquisite chocolate entrées, drinks, and desserts. All in attendance will have the opportunity to indulge in these heavenly treats throughout the evening. Each dish entered by vendors and chefs will be judged by a panel of experts, with prizes given to the winning concoctions. Champagne will be poured for free, and there will be a cash bar for those looking for libations of a different kind.
In addition, partygoers will have the opportunity to partake in a silent auction.
Chocolate and champagne…it doesn’t get much better, and, considering that it all goes to a most worthy cause, this should help alleviate any guilt for indulging in such decadent delights.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment to help local girls develop the skills necessary to succeed in their lives and contribute to the community at large.
Support at this event will enable GSESC to provide the girls in the Beaufort County community a quality program experience with leadership training events, resident and troop camping, robotics and Lego creation programs, scholarships , training for adult volunteers, and opportunities for at-risk girls. In contributing to the GSESC, donors help girls in the community develop qualities that will serve them throughout their lives, such as leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Currently, there are nearly 500 Girl Scouts in Beaufort County. Donor gifts will help many girls in the community where “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” Sponsorship of this event will help make young girls in our community the leaders of tomorrow.
Audi Hilton Head encourages folks from in and around Beaufort County to come enjoy the deliciously decadent treats while showing support for all of the great things that the Girl Scouts do.
