WHAT: Georgia Tech-Savannah Speaker Series: “Keeping Up With the Mobile Device and Application Landscape.” Georgia Tech’s new Savannah Speaker Series is one way Georgia Tech-Savannah is helping companies in the coastal region stay current. The series will launch with a lecture on mobile devices and applications. As the mobile landscape changes faster than ever, tech professionals and hobbyists should know the latest in this tuned-in, always-on environment. Hear updates about app development, mobile phones and tablets and see demonstrations of augmented reality and Georgia Tech’s Google Glass app. Preview some of the exciting innovations coming to your mobile device in the near future.

WHO: Russell Clark, a senior research scientist in Georgia Tech’s School of Computer Science, engages hundreds of students each semester in mobile development and emphasizes innovation, entrepreneurship and industry involvement.He is the associate director of the Georgia Tech Research Network Operations Center, an enabling center involved in numerous research efforts across campus. He is also a principal leader of the Convergence Innovation Competition, a student research competition that works with industry sponsors to support student innovation and entrepreneurship. His teaching and research is primarily focused in the areas of networking, network management and mobile applications and services. Clark earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science from Vanderbilt University, and master’s and doctorate degrees in information and computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
