Slideluck Savannah, the local chapter of the international non-profit arts organization, is back this November 13, 2014 at the American Legion Ballroom (1108 Bull Street) and is currently seeking artist submissions. A combination of a curated slideshow and a potluck dinner, Slideluck Savannah brings together diverse groups of people, artwork, food, music, ideas, and perspectives under one roof.
Last year’s inaugural, sold-out event brought together a wide range of emerging and established photographers and visual artists, giving them the opportunity to showcase their work not only for a local audience, but also globally through the Slideluck website.
“We are seeking inspiring and cohesive bodies of work from photographers and artists from all walks of life!” says Director of Slideluck Savannah, Summer Teal Simpson. “Slideluck is a beautiful event that brings together people; it promotes community as well as appreciation for the arts and local artists. It exposes people to art in a comfortable, demystified way.”
The event will feature 20 to 25 artists, chosen by a small jury, with each artist featuring up to five minutes of original work. Each individual slideshow is set to music or an audio recording that the artist has selected. Past Slideluck contributors include: Chuck Close, Shepard Fairey, Elliott Erwitt, Inez and Vinoodh, JR, Spencer Tunick, Edward Burtynsky, Alex Prager, Gregory Crewdson, Lauren Greenfield, Nadav Kander, among many others.
Deadline for artist submissions is October 24, 2014. For submission questions, please contact [email protected] or visit slideluck.com/submissions
