The Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia is inviting Statesboro residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Augusta Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, November 8 at Bulloch Academy, 873 Westside Road, Statesboro, Georgia.
Along with research, Walk to END Alzheimer’s helps support local programing that includes counseling for those newly diagnosed plus education, counseling and support groups for caregivers.
“Every person facing Alzheimer’s disease experiences challenges and no one should have to do it alone. We are here to help those with the disease and the caregivers no matter what challenges they are facing. We are grateful to those who donate their time and money to support us and support our walk. With this generous support, we can continue moving forward with our mission”, said Deborah, Community Outreach Director, Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia, Coastal Georgia Regional Office.
Alzheimer’s affects over six hundred thousand Georgians. This number includes those diagnosed with the disease and their caregivers. Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s more than 5 million Americans to as many as 16 million by 2050.
This year’s Walk sponsors include Senior Cars Pharmacy, The Suites at Willow Pond Senior Community and Willow Pond At Home.
