First Lady Sandra Deal—together with representatives from Scholastic Reading Club--traveled to Savannah on Monday morning to congratulate and celebrate the Lower School students at Savannah Country Day School. The students participated in the Scholastic Summer Reading program and were responsible for logging their reading each day throughout the summer break. In total, the students logged 719,610 minutes and finished in first place for Georgia and 71st in the world. This is the third year in a row that Savannah Country Day has received this honor.
“This award is a testament to our school’s commitment to instill in our students a deep love of reading,” states Annemarie Shuman, Head of Lower School. “It was an honor to welcome First Lady Sandra Deal to our school and watch her interact with our students. They will remember this day for many years.”
