Mike Manesiotis has been named the new RBC Heritage General Chairman of Volunteers. He will take over the position after the 2015 event.
Manesiotis is replacing Ray Angell, who will be retiring after the tournament held April 13-19 over the Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, SC. Angell moved to Hilton Head Island in 1987 and began volunteering his time as a Marshall on Hole #10. He was named General Chairman in 2006.
Manesiotis has served as chairman of the Communications Committee for 7 years. Previously, he volunteered in the tournament’s commissary. He will be shadowing Angell for the next several months.
In addition to volunteering his time at the RBC Heritage, he is also a Past President of the Island Rec Center, County Commissioner of Recreation (PALS), former Hilton Head Island High Booster Club President and a past Chairman for the Hilton Head Island Middle School Improvement Counsel.
"I am excited and honored to have this opportunity presented to me," said Manesiotis. "It is ingrained in me to give back to the community and volunteer my time, this is exactly what I am looking forward to do."
The General Chairman of Volunteers supervises the 18 volunteer committees. He also has responsibility for committee activities and volunteers as individuals, including their recruitment, evaluation, promotion and retirement with advice from the Tournament Director, if needed.
“Mike is a great choice for the position,” said Tournament Director Steve Wilmot. “His enthusiasm and fresh ideas will only improve what is already a well run volunteer organization.”
Manesiotis is from Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Edinboro University. He moved to Hilton Head in 1985. He is a past owner of Giuseppi’s Pizza, Harbour Town Deli and Harold’s Diner. He is currently the owner/broker in charge of Hilton Head Long Tern Rentals and Premier Long Term Rentals. He is married to Sally and has three children Mike (23), Sara (21) and Jack (19).
