In its first year, the 2014 Sustainativity Mattress Dash proved to be absolutely record breaking.

11 teams with more than 50 “dashers” entertained, on a fall like Sunday afternoon a crowd of spectators and on –lookers, which easily exceeded 300 people, at the south end of Savannah’s Forsyth Park.

The 150 m dash course was lined by groups of people, mesmerized by the race contraptions and costumes of the competing teams, all in the name for a sustainable environment.

Organizer Tommy Linstroth: “We are exceedingly happy with the results and the welcome our race received; the support of the community and the funds raised for our cause exceeded all expectations. A huge thank you to all our sponsors and the teams, who went out of their way to support this fun and sustainable event.”

Prizes were handed out in the following categories: Fastest Team, Greenest Racing Frame, Judge's Choice and People's Choice.

This race, the first of its kind in Savannah, raised close to $5000.00, which will support the sustainable renovation of the offices for the Historic Savannah Foundation to come later in 2014.

The 2015 race will take place in early fall, a date will be set soon.
