Savannah State University Employee Elected to International Board

Sametria McFall Dickerson, Ph.D., assistant to the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Savannah State University (SSU), recently accepted an appointment to the board of directors for the Council of Colleges of Arts & Sciences (CCAS). The group’s membership currently represents more than 700 deans from 500 colleges around the world. She will serve for three years.
The council connects deans and their department personnel with other institutions of higher education around the world. It serves “as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information among deans of arts and sciences representing the member colleges and as a representative of the liberal arts and sciences at a national policy-making level.”
Dickerson also serves as the chair for the Roselind G. Steele Education Fund and on the White House initiative for the HBCU-Brazil Alliance. She is an alumna of SSU and of Northeastern University in Boston, Mass., a professor of psychology at SSU and a native of Savannah.
